History

The beginning

In 1973 Richard Klingler, founder of the well-established RV manufacturer Holiday Rambler, wanted to create a delivery solution for both regional and national companies. With 30 employees, one manufacturing plant and a surplus of chassis, he decided to build light and medium duty commercial delivery boxes for cab chassis. By the late 1970's, Utilimaster was rated the number one producer of cutaway commercial vehicles on Ford chassis.

Growth

The 1980's gave way to significant growth for Utilimaster, including the first walk-in van, truck bodies, Aerocaps and vehicle interiors. In 1987, Utilimaster received the Productivity Award, the highest industrial honor awarded by Congress. Utilimaster continued to grow through the 1990's by investing in both production facilities and its workforce.

Today

Utilimaster provides the most efficient commercial vehicles in the market and is fortunate to have partnered with many of the nation's leading and well-established fleets, including the U.S. Postal Service, FedEx, Frito-Lay, Budget Truck Rental and Cintas.
